"Recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction." ~ M. Russell Ballard

Chirstmas Stuff

Iris sang,

"Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells. Giggling all the way....."

I'm doing the advent a little different this yr. Instead of just going over to pick something off of a "calendar", we are reading out of the Norman Rockwell's Christmas Book, and then the kids get a piece of candy. Iris is liking the book best. The rest of them are in it for the chocolate. ;) At first I thought, "This is bribery." Then I thought, "I don't care. They're more quiet and I'm getting family reading time. Enjoy it."

Greetings from the alternate reality....

Another Sunday moment:

Redbeard is meeting someone new (everyone is new since the ward changed). Hercules raises his arms to shake hands too. So the man shakes his hand and asks what his name is.

"Hercules."

"Oh? I have a son named Hercules."

"You have a son named Hercules?" my toddler asks incredulously. (Don't you love it when they discover they aren't the only one in the universe with THEIR NAME?)

"Yes, I do. Only he's quite a bit taller than you." (His son is 12.)

"Taller than me? No, he's not tall. I'm tall."

Good luck convincing him otherwise - he's got his own set of rules in that 3 yr. old universe of his!

Sunday Morn....

Sunday morning Hercules crawls into bed with me.

"Mommy, are where are we going?"

"We're going crazy, of course."

"Mom, we can't go crazy."

"Yes we can. We can go crazy anytime."

"No, Mom! We can't go crazy. It's Sunday!"

And then he toddled off mumbling to himself on how you just can't go crazy on Sunday, leaving me to wonder how he knew it was Sunday? And further, what are they teaching him in nursery? LOL!

Mercury has a new ritual.

Every morning he goes and gets dressed. Then he finds me wherever I am, hugs me tight, and declares, "I love you, Mom."

WOW. I am so super blessed.

The Can-Tar

I have a guitar I've had since High School. I took lessons for awhile but I never did learn how to play. It's one of those things that I still want to do.... someday. Well, I got tired of it just rotting inside its case so I pulled it out and just left it propped up against the furniture.

Every now and then Hercules comes over and strums it.

Today a friend had posted on Facebook a youtube video that had guitar music on it, and Hercules went insane. There wasn't a guitar for him to look at, but he recognized the sound. So I found another youtube video that was quite pretty.... and Hercules screams, "A CAN-TAR!!!" Then he gets a reverent look on his face and says, "It's boo-tiful."

I had no idea he felt that way about the music! I'll have to play "can-tar" music for him more often!

The "boo-tiful can-tar" music can be found HERE.

Funny Moment

Athena is sitting here next to me while I'm working on the plot of my novel bugging me. She and I were talking about teens being overprotected and I asked her if she thought she was overprotected in anything. She said.

"Oh yeah. Like the whole be in by 10 pm things so the weirdos don't steal a scrap of your clothing and tie it around a voo-doo doll and stick it with a pin."

I widened my eyes and said, "Wow, that's pretty creative. You should write that."

She says, "No, I'll just say stuff and then have a scribe write it down for me and then I can edit it."

Then she realized what she was saying and burst out laughing.

Maybe instead of editing herself, she should censor! ROFL!

Who Needs Blocks....

when you have Macaroni and Cheese boxes?! No kidding - Apollo has spent HOURS stacking and building with Mac and Cheese boxes. He'll block a Fisher Price person in and laugh a little evil laugh. Then he'll rescue it and keep moving them around, putting them in one order only to take them down and put them in another order.

Cracks me up!
